For the second year in a row, Ivanhoé Cambridge is presenting a combined report with information on its operational highlights, financial performance and achievements in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR), thereby emphasizing the integral role of CSR in its business strategies. Since 2012, the Company has issued a CSR report in addition to its activity report.
This 2017 report complies with the reporting guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in terms of sustainability and the assessment of relative importance, determined in cooperation with the Company’s stakeholders. This report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards: Core option. It has not been subject to an external audit by an independent third party.
For the first time, Ivanhoé Cambridge incorporated the sustainable development goals presented by the United Nations in September 2015, to which the Company is committed to adhering. The predominant aim of these goals is to put an end to poverty, to fight against inequality and injustice, and to protect the planet. Ivanhoé Cambridge does not claim to fulfill all 17 goals at this point in time, but the initiatives put forward have allowed the Company to address at least 10. The corresponding indicators can be found on the website and in the GRI table at the end of this report.
This report covers the period from January to December 2017. When relevant CSR data are available, the report compares them with the Company’s performance in 2016. It does not reflect all of the Company’s CSR achievements in prior years. All figures refer to the year spanning January 1 to December 31, 2017, except for energy and natural resources consumption and waste reduction figures, which cover the period from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017. Comparative data from previous years have been adjusted accordingly. All data cover a 12-month period. Utility consumption and Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions data is based on access to metered consumption of the properties managed by Ivanhoé Cambridge.
All financial figures are expressed in Canadian dollars, unless otherwise stated. Numerical values have been rounded; as a result, some totals may not be exact. Financial and employee data apply to the entire organization. Unless otherwise stated, employee data do not include independent contractors.
Figures pertaining to properties managed by Ivanhoé Cambridge are provided in aggregate form and not according to the percentage of the Company’s interest in any given property. Information concerning properties covers the entire calendar year. CSR-related data on properties acquired or sold by Ivanhoé Cambridge during the year are not included.
